Let me give you two reasons why I believe this story.

  1. Because Jesus believed it
  2. Because I believe Genesis 1:1

I. THE REBELLION OF JONAH: HE HAS BECOME A PRODIGAL 

A. The Reasoning of Jonah’s Rebellion

Read Jonah 1:1-2

Three reasons Jonah said – “I’m not going” :

  1. Difficulties
  2. Danger (Read Nahum 3:1-4)
  3. Disdain

B. The Route of Jonah’s Rebellion

Read Jonah 1:3

C. The Result of Jonah’s Rebellion

Read Jonah 1:4-12, 1:14, 1:17

II. THE REACTION OF JONAH: HE IS PRAYING

A. His distress

Read Jonah 2:3

B. His decision

His decision to pray did three things.

  1. He remembered the Lord (read Jonah 2:7)
  2. He recognized the lie (read Jonah 2:8)
  3. He responded to the lesson (read Jonah 2:9)

C. His deliverance
