I.  THE CONFIDENCE OF A PERSON

A.  DECLARED TO BE THE SON OF GOD – AT HIS

B.  DEMONSTRATED TO BE THE SON OF GOD – AT THE

II.  THE CREDIBILITY OF PROOF

A.  CREDIBLE BECAUSE OF A

And it is the Spirit that bearethwitness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. (1 John 5:7-8)

B.  CREDIBLE BECAUSE OF

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. (1 John 5:9)

C.  CREDIBLE BECAUSE OF

He that hath believeth on the Son of God hath the witness himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. (I John 5:10)

III.  THE CERTAINTY OF HIS PROMISE

A.  THE OF PROMISE

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. (1 John 5:11)

B.  THE OF A PROMISE

He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (1 John 5:12)

C.  THE OF PROMISE

“And this is the record” = know 

But these things are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. (John 20:31)

These things have I written unto you … that ye may know that ye have eternal life. (1 John 5:13)
