Text: Ecclesiastes 5:1-7

I. PREPARATION

Read Ecc. 5:1

Ecclesiastes chapter 4: about the worship of wealth

Ecclesiastes chapter 5: about worship that reveals authenticity

“You can have all kinds of churches with all kinds of forms of worship.  You can sing the doxology if you want to, but you don’t have to.  Christianity was never given a form to follow.” – J. Vernon McGee

II. PRAYERS

Read Ecc. 5:2-3

“We need to stop talking so much and listen more to God’s Word.”

III. PROMISES

Read Ecc. 5:4-6

Have you ever made a promise to God but did not keep it? God has not forgotten your promise.

Read Psalm 66:13-15

Vows are serious.

IV. PURPOSE

Read Ecc. 5:7

We have a hard time understanding the concept of the fear of the Lord.

Read Matthew 10:28 “.. but rather fear Him …”

Read Revelation 5:9 “Thou are worthy”
