I. THE REALIZATION OF THE STRUGGLE OF THE MIND

A. SOCIETY’S PART IN THIS BATTLE

1. 40 million Americans visit porn sites regularly

2. 35% of all internet downloads are related to porn

3. 34% of internet users experienced unwanted exposure to porn in pop-ups

4. 57% of teens search out porn monthly

5. 51% of male students and 32% of female students first viewed porn before their teen years

6. 71% of teens – hide online behavior from their parents

7. 68% of divorce cases involved one party meeting a new lover over the internet

8. 56% of divorce cases involved one party having an obsessive interest in obscene websites

9. A study in 2014 showed that pornographic users had a lack of attraction to family and child rearing

66% of 14 to 15 year old’s have been exposed to porn

B. SATAN’S PART IN THIS BATTLE

 Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 

For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. 2 Corinthians 11:1-4

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) – 2 Corinthians 10:3-4

II. THE PROTECTION FROM THE SIN OF THE MIND

A. DEFEND THE FORTRESS OF THE MIND

SET UP GUARD RAILS

1. Determine in your heart to be pure.

2. Protect your eye gate and ear gate.

3. Limit certain places of entertainment.

4. Fight pride.

5. Be accountable.

6. Choose your friends wisely.

 “He that walketh with wisemen should be wise but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” Proverbs 13:20

B. DEFEAT THE FOE OF THE MIND

Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119:9-11

Four Things to do with the Word of God

1. Master the Word of God

2. Memorize the Word of God

3. Meditate on the Word of God

 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8

4. Mobilize the Word of God

III. THE MOTIVATION FOR SUCCESS WITH THE MIND

A. DON’T WANT BONDAGE

“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?”  Romans 6:16

B. WANT GOD’S BLESSING

For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.   Proverbs 8:11

C. WHO I BELONG TO

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God…”  Romans 12:1
