Worshipping on The Wall

November 17, 2024 / Nehemiah 12

Sermon by Pastor Brent Snook / Nov 17, 2024

Series: REBUILD

Text: Nehemiah 12

Worship is the celebration of God!

I. THE PREREQUISITE OF THEIR CELEBRATION

The wall was finished in Chapter 6; they are now dedicating the wall in Chapter 12

READ NEHEMIAH 12:27

II. THE PURIFICATION OF THEIR CELEBRATION

Purified – to clean up, cleanse

III. THE PROCESSION OF THEIR CELEBRATION

READ NEHEMIAH 12:31

Reasons they were marching on the wall:

  1. They were demonstrating visually in a panoramic view what God had done
  2. They reflected their unity by rejoicing together
  3. They all converged on the temple

IV. THE PROCLAMATION OF THEIR CELEBRATION

READ NEHEMIAH 12:27b

READ NEHEMIAH 12:42-43, NEHEMIAH 12:46

READ COLOSSIANS 3:16

“How has it happened that in the secular field there are so many fine poems and beautiful songs, while in the religious field we have such lifeless stuff?” – MARTIN LUTHER

“We must read, sing, preach, and compose verse. Whatever is beneficial, I would let all the bells and organs thunder and everything that could sound, sound.” – MARTIN LUTHER

“Let’s forget the church music and go out into the streets with street organs, drums, and cymbals, and reach the people who won’t come into the church. Let’s make something fresh and innovative.” – WILLIAM BOOTH

V. THE PROVISION OF THEIR CELEBRATION

READ NEHEMIAH 12:44

“When God’s work is done in God’s way for God’s glory, it will not lack God’s support.” – HUDSON TAYLOR
