February 2, 2025 / 1 Kings 17:1-7

Sermon by Pastor Brent Snook / Feb 2, 2025

Series: Standing Tall

Text: 1 Kings 17:1-7

God has put us here to stand tall

I. PERSON OF ELIJAH

Read 1 Kings 17:1

Notice in vs 1a “…before whom I stand”

Background:

Israel had three primary kings: Saul, David, Solomon

The nation divided into two kingdoms: Israel (in the north) and Judah (in the south)

Read 1 Kings 16:33

II. PRONOUNCEMENT OF ELIJAH

Read 1 Kings 17:3

God wants to build Christians – not cathedrals. God focuses on people – not programs.

III. PROTECTION OF ELIJAH

Read Psalm 91:1-2, Psalm 17:8, 2 Thessalonians 3:3

IV. PROVISION OF ELIJAH

God’s direction always includes God’s provision

Read 1 Kings 17:4

V. PREPARATION OF ELIJAH

Read 1 Kings 17:5

A. Pursued

B. Patience

C. Personal (Solitude)

D. Purpose

Read 1 Kings 17:7

“It’s doubtful that God can bless a man greatly until He has hurt him greatly.” AW Tozer

“We throw broken things away, but God never uses anything until He first breaks it.” Adrian Rogers
