Text: Matthew 1:18-25

In the month of December, we’ll focus on several people in the Bible and how they saw Christmas

How did Joseph see Christmas?

Read Matthew 1:18-25

I. HIS CHEER

Matt 1:19

One of the first things God reveals about Joseph: he was just a man

Three steps in a Jewish marriage:

  1. The two families agreed to a union
  2. A public announcement
  3. The couple was married and began living together

II. HIS CONFUSION

Joseph was first excited. Then he was thrown into utter confusion.

III. HIS COOPERATION

Read Matt 1:20-24

When God appears to Joseph, he listened and obeyed

Read Psalm 37:23, Proverbs 3:5-6

God talks. Are you listening?

IV. HIS CONSECRATION

Read Matt 1:24-25

God chose Joseph because he was a man enough to care about God’s purpose

Joseph named Jesus (vs.21)

There is power in the name of Jesus
