Reckoning Day

Sermon by Pastor Brent Snook / January 16, 2022

Main Bible Text: 2 Corinthians 5:10-11

How Much Do You Value Jesus?

There are two judgements:

  1. The Judgement Seat of Christ
  2. The Great White Throne Judgement

I. Misconceptions of the Judgement Seat of Christ

A. covers it all

Read 2 Corinthians 5:10 “..whether it be good or bad..”

B. We are not saved by – therefore our works after salvation have no

Read Ephesians 2:8-10

C. Rewards should not be to serve Jesus

Scripture filled with incentive of reward:

Psalm 58:11, Psalm 63:12, Matthew 5:11-12, Revelation 22:12, Hebrews 11:24-26

II. The Meaning of the Judgement Seat of Christ

The term “Judgement Seat” comes from the word bema (Greek)

III. The Materials of the Judgement Seat of Christ

Read Matthew 10:39, 1 Corinthians 3:10-13

Two types of building material:

  1. Gold, silver, precious stones
  2. Wood, hay, stubble

The Torch Test

IV. The Motivation of the Judgement Seat of Christ

The rewards of heaven (read Matthew 25:14-17)

Our motivation: rewards in heaven + ruling with Christ

V. The Manifestation at the Judgement Seat of Christ

How we will be judged:

A. Judged

Read Hebrews 4:13

B. Judged

Read Roman 14:10

C. Judged

1 Corinthians 3:13 – “Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.”

Notice these three phrases:

Made manifest

Declare it

Revealed by fire
